Renting from Dream Vacation

• What are your rental terms?

  You can find terms and conditions here. These are the terms you will agree to on our rental contract.

• What is your minimum rental?

  We have nightly, weekly and monthly rentals available depending upon the individual property. Please view each individual property.

• Do I have to stay from Saturday to Saturday?

  Your rental stay can start and end on any day of the week (some exceptions apply)

• How and when do I pay?

  You can pay by Visa or MasterCard.  We require a 50% deposit to reserve the property and the remaining 50% 2 months before your arrival date. If you reserve within 2 months of your arrival we ask that you make the full payment at that time.

• How far in advance do I have to reserve?

  It depends. Some properties are rented months ahead of time, or even a year! In other cases we have last minute availability. We recommend planning as far ahead as possible. This way you are likely to be able to rent the property you prefer for the dates you would prefer. Dates in high season tend to be booked well ahead of time.

• What does your price include?

  The price includes:
  
  * all utilities
  * contact numbers for assistance during your stay
  * computers and free internet connection in some properties 
          (some exceptions may apply)
  *local phone service in some properties
  *bed linens and towels

   

   

• Are there any extra costs?

  Additional charges includes local B.C. taxes, a booking fee, and if applicable a cleaning fee for stays shorter than one week.

• Do you ever offer a discounted rate?

  We oftern times run special prices if we have last minute availability for a property. We also try to run introductory rates when we have just taken on a new property. Please view our SPECIAL OFFERS PAGE for current discounted rates.

• What is your cancellation policy?

  We have a strict no cancellation policy. In the event you must cancel, all sums paid to  Dream Vacation at the date of your cancellation will be forfeited UNLESS we are able to re-rent the property for your dates. If we are able to re-rent, we refund the amount paid, less a 10% administration fee.
   
  If you are concerned about cancellation we reccommend that you take out Traveler's Insurance.  It is reasonably priced and is a good option.

   

• Do you offer cancellation insurance?

  Cancellation insurance is your responsibility, and we strongly recommend that you take out insurance for your trip.  We cannot be held responsible for a cancellation for any reason. Please protect yourself!

• Is there a security deposit? How much is it and how do I pay?

  We do require a security deposit for all of our properties. We require you to fill out a credit card authorization form, which authorizes us to charge your card for specific damages caused by you during your stay with us. These damages will be documented with bills and your card will never be charged randomly. If there are no damages, we destroy your credit card information without charging your card. If there are any damages, you will be notified before any charges are run on your card. Your rental will not be confirmed until we have your faxed and signed credit card authorization form. You may elect to give us cash or a certified cheque for a damage deposit. Please inquire with us regarding this option.

• How early can we check in and how late can we check out?

  Check-in is at 4pm. 
  Check-out is at 10am. 
  This gives our cleaners time to prepare the home between the departure of one party and the arrival of the next. However, we do understand that you may arrive earlier, and want to leave later, and we will do everything possible to accommodate all parties as best we can.

• So, if I decide I would like to rent a property from Dream Vacation, what do I do?

  Reserving a holiday with Dream Vacation is simple. If you have decided that you would like to rent a property with us, click on Request Availability, fill out the form online, and forward it to us via email. We will then confirm the dates, the price and the number in your party. Please review our rental terms on our website. Once we have received payment, we will send you a confirmation of the rental, along with a copy of your credit card receipt, a copy of our rental terms and the damage deposit authorization form for you to sign and return.

• I've paid for my vacation property and finished the reservation process. Now what?

  We will send you an attachment via email that you can print off confirming all the practical details about your property rental, including address, directions and key location or greeters name and number, and other important information. Please take a moment to print this, and don’t forget to bring it with you!

   

Dream Vacation Condos, Homes, Cottages and Suite Information

• Are all of your homes and cottages non-smoking?

  Our Condos, Homes, Cottages and Suites are all strictly non-smoking. However, it is fine to smoke outside on the decks and or balconies in most of the properties.

• Are all your condos, homes, cottages and suites child friendly?

  With the exception of a few properties children are welcome. When you request availability please inform us of the number of children and their ages and we will check the suitability of the property.

• What if I want to bring along my pet?

  Some of our properties do accept pets and others do not. When you request availability please inform us of the type of pet you wish to bring and we let you know which properties would be suitable. Some properties charge a small "clean-up" fee for pets.

• Do we need to bring our own sheets and bathroom towels?

  Nothing of the sort! We provide more than enough clean sheets and towels.

Logistics

• How do I get from the airport/ferry to my rental property? And how do I obtain the keys?

  Dream Vacation will supply you with directions to your rental property and the location of the key or the name of the greeter who will meet you and any other information you may have regarding the vacation property.

   

• What if I lose a key?

  Please be very careful with your property key. If it is lost, please notify Dream Vacation right away.  For your security it may be necessary to have the locks changed.  The renter agrees to pay for the cost of the keys and also if necessary the cost to change the locks. A bill will be provided before your card is charged.

• Are there any other 'DREAM' services that you provide?

  Below is a list of extra services and activities that can be arranged specifically for you:

  • extra cleaning during your stay
  • stocked fridge upon your arrival
  • baby-sitting services
  • personal chef or cooking courses
  • special island tours
  • massage and yoga either in your rental or elsewhere
  • kayak expeditions and fishing tours
  • sailing charters
• Where can I get information on upcoming performances, events, festivals, etc.?

   A list of links will guide you to current events such as movies, performances and festivals.  Many of our properties will also have information on activites throughout the area.

• What type of transportation is available?

  Public bus service, local taxi service , sea planes and rental cars.

Information On Dream Vacation

• How do we know Dream Vacation is a legitimate company?

  Dream Vacation is owned and operated by two long time residents of British Columbia.  One partner resides in Victoria and the other on Salt Spring Island. They are available throughout your stay for any questions or concerns. Feel free to read reviews of clients who have stayed with us before.

• What are the main differences between staying in a vacation rental and staying at a hotel?

  Dream Vacation offers our clients the unique experience of having a "home away from home." To this end we ensure that all of our properties(some exceptions) are outfitted with fully equipped kitchens, allowing you to cook your own meals from fresh food bought at our local markets. We also provide internet service and computers and local phone service in some properties  ( exceptions may apply). You will experience more privacy, more space, more amenities, and more conveniences than most accommodation. it will also allow you to get an insiders view of the area you are visiting.

• How is Dream Vacation unique?

  Our staff at Dream Vacation pride ourselves on top-notch customer service.
